The goal of the youth group is to provide an authentic community that gives middle and high school parishioners a safe place to explore, deepen and enrich their Catholic faith and identity. We accomplish this by providing a solid group of young adult volunteers, led by our Coordinator of Youth Ministry, who share their personal testimony and knowledge of God and the Catholic faith and who support and encourage young people by being present in their lives, both at youth group and throughout the week. We currently have two separate programs, one for students in sixth through eighth grade in the parish and one for our high school students.
Middle school youth group is open to both the school and PSR students and seeks to support parents in their mission of passing on the Catholic faith. At youth group, we encourage a Christ-based community through games, small groups, and short talks on different aspects of our faith. We meet one Sunday a month, October through May, 6:30 to 8 p.m., in the Bryce Eck Activity Center. Students are welcome to attend as many meetings as they are able.
The High School youth group meets every Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bryce Eck Activity Center for talks, small group, prayer, and social time. We also meet every first Tuesday of the month “Family Dinner” where we share a meal at St. Andrew and attend Adoration together. Parents and siblings are invited, and encouraged, to join us! During the 2018-2019 year, we are introducing lots of new and exciting activities. For the latest updates, contact Andrea McClymont to be added to the email list.
High school students are welcome to attend as many meetings and events as they are able. Students are welcome to bring friends from other churches. Events are posted in the Sunday Bulletin, on the Parish Google Calendar, on the parish Facebook page, and students can follow youth group on Instagram @firstcalled for updates.
