Welcome to Saint Andrew Parish

Music Ministry

Parish Choir

The St. Andrew Choir provides music for the 9:00 Sunday Mass (September-June) in addition to other Holy Days and special occasions. The group is open to singers of eighteen years of age and beyond. Rehearsals are typically held on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm. While music reading ability is helpful, it is not required in order to become a choir member. You must simply be able to match pitch, be available for rehearsals as well as liturgies, and have a desire to help others pray and praise God through music. For more information, contact the Music Director, Philip Lortz, 451-1839.

Resurrection (Funeral) Choir

The Resurrection Choir serves the parish by singing for our parish funerals.  This choir is an especially good option for those who enjoy singing and have some flexibility with their daytime (especially morning) schedules, but are unable to make the full commitment of the Sunday choir.  The choir rehearses in the choir loft, typically on the first Wednesday of the month, at 9:30 am.  New members are always welcome to join us.  For more information, contact the Music Director, Philip Lortz, 451-1839.

St. Andrew Choristers

The St. Andrew Choristers is a youth choir which is open to students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6. This group will rehearse on Wednesday afternoons (3:00-4:00) on a “seasonal” basis. Singers are typically asked to make a 6-8 week commitment as we prepare for a specific event/liturgy, then a new session will begin. Singers from both St. Andrew School as well as our PSR program are invited to participate.  For more information, includeing a current schedule, contact the Music Director, Philip Lortz, 451-1839.

Cantors

Cantors play an important leadership role in our sung prayer. Their primary responsibility is to proclaim the Word of God in the sung Responsorial Psalm and Gospel Acclamation. Cantors must be able to attend a variety of different Mass times, and learn new music fairly quickly.  They must be confident singers and have a prayerful presence.  Typically these singers are selected by the music director, from one of the parish choral groups listed herein.  For more information, contact the Music Director, Philip Lortz, 451-1839.
